Ateneum (Finland)

Ateneum is one of the greatest in Finland. The capital city of the museum is located in Helsinki, capital city, opposite Helsinki Central Railway Station. The museum exhibits a wide range of classical art. The Ateneum building was first used as Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and Helsinki Art and Design University.

The museum building was painted by Theodor Höijer and completed in 1887. There are many sculptures in the Ateneum. These sculptures have many symbols. Above the main entrance, on the second floor are the busts of three famous classical artists. These busts belong to architect Bramante, painter Raphael and sculptor Fidias. The third floor is symbolized by four classic arts. These are: painting, sculpture, architecture and music.
